THERE’S MORE TO HANDMADE FURNITURE
Furniture can (and should) be seen as more than necessary items to fill space in the home. Although furniture serves obvious function, furniture is one of the most significant connections we have to our home.
Commercial (mass produced) furniture is often more inexpensive and these days it might be hard for some to justify the cost of handmade products. Handmade furniture will add to your home in a way that can never be done by commercially made items.
Imagine the energy and pulse to be felt from eating at a solid wood dining table that was handcrafted. Then imagine eating at that same dining table 30 years later, with all of the added life it will have to exude from all of the meals enjoyed on it.
A piece of furniture created, piece by piece, by a craftsman has a warmth and soul to it that cannot be duplicated. It’s an appreciation for these special pieces and their tactile qualities that evoke an emotional response and enhance our daily lives.

WAXING WOOD FURNITURE
"Wax is the wear and tear, abrasion layer of fine wood furniture."
We recommend applying a protective layer of wax to the finish of your furniture as an added layer of protection. Wait one month after receiving your furniture before applying wax to ensure the original finish is fully cured. Superficial scratches, dings and dents should then happen to the wax layer - not the original finish. You should use a high quality Cabinetmaker's wax designed for wood furniture.
You can make only two mistakes when applying wax:
1. You can put too much on.....Wax is a finish where less is better. Wax adheres with great strength to almost any surface, but does not bond with itself. Too thick of a coat won't dry evenly, resulting in a spotty sheen. When wax is applied and rubbed down to the thinnest possible layer, a water repellant and mar resistant surface that will not smear or collect dust is produced.
2. You can buff it out too soon....If you buff wax before it has dried, you just redistribute the wax.
Furniture must be clean and free of oil and grease prior to waxing.
Wrap a lump of wax in a soft, lint free cloth. Twist it into a ball then rub onto the surface. On large surfaces such as table-tops, we recommend using a circular motion to ensure the wax gets into the grain. When applying the wax this way, go back over the surface in straight lines, in the direction of the grain, to smooth out any ridges. If you see ridges across the surface, there's too much wax.
Allow the wax to dry, depending on product, about 5-15 minutes. The surface will become hazy as the wax dries and returns to a solid. With a clean cloth, buff thoroughly in a circular motion to ensure all surplus wax is removed. If the wax dries too much and is difficult to remove, just re-apply wax overtop to re-soften the wax. The higher the gloss you want, the softer the material for buffing you use.
Re-apply a coat of wax when you can no longer buff the coating to a shine. This will vary depending on the wear and tear the furniture receives. Table tops, which receive the most wear and tear, should only be waxed every 6 months to a year.
